Stanley (two-time Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins, The Shape of Water, The Visitor) is an aging fast food worker. After 38 years on the graveyard shift at Oscar’s Chicken and Fish, he’s finally calling it quits. He’s headed to Florida to take care of his ailing mother. It’s his last weekend and he’s tasked with training his replacement, Jevon (Shane Paul McGhie), a talented but stalled young writer, whose provocative politics keep landing him in trouble. He’s currently out on probation and needs a job as part of his parole agreement. Stanley and Jevon are from totally different worlds, their lives intersecting only through circumstance. Stanley, a high school drop- out, who has watched life pass by his drive-through window, proudly details the nuances of the job. Jevon, who’d rather be penning newspaper columns, is too smart to be flipping patties and contends their labor is exploited. A flicker of comradery sparks during the long hours in a quiet kitchen – but it doesn’t last long.
