The Middleburg Film Festival is honored to present this year’s Actor Spotlight Award to ALDIS HODGE. The SAG award-winning actor portrays star NFL footballer Jim Brown in Regina King’s ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI, a fictional account of one incredible night where icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown celebrate Clay’s surprise title win over Sonny Liston in a Miami hotel room in February 1964.
Since getting his start on television at the age of 5 as a “Sesame Street kid”, Hodge has earned well-deserved recognition for his large and small screen roles. On his 21st birthday, he landed his breakout role as Alec Hardison, the brainy hacker on TNT’s Leverage. Subsequent roles include MC Ren in the acclaimed 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton, Levi Jackson in the 2016 Oscar nominated film Hidden Figures, death-row inmate Anthony Woods in the 2019 drama Clemency, and as Noah in the WGN America series Underground, which centers on a group of runaway slaves, aided by a secretly abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad.
Hodge will return to work this fall on his new Showtime Series City On A Hill opposite Kevin Bacon produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Tom Fontana and directed by Michael Cuesta.
Join Aldis Hodge and KPCC’s The Frame’s John Horn for a conversation focusing on his role as Jim Brown in One Night In Miami, defying stereotypes, and what’s next for the multi-talented actor.
